This morning a maintenance search of lockers and the vehicles in the parking lot at the MS/HS was conducted in collaboration with the Benton County Sherriff's Office and their canine unit. As a result the school district implemented their lock-down procedures during the duration of the search to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff.
The Benton CSD believe that a scheduled search is in a manner reasonable in scope to maintain order and discipline in the school, promote the educational environment, and protect the safety and welfare of students, employees, and visitors to the school district. Students and staff were notified at the time of the lock down that this was a scheduled maintenance search and that there was no emergency situation on campus. In addition, parents of MS/HS students were contacted via email using the SchoolReach notification system.
