Jo Prusha - SAI Middle School Principal of Year Finalist

School Administrators of Iowa announced Jo Prusha, Benton Community middle school principal, was a finalist for the 2012 Iowa Middle Level Principal of the Year award. “We are pleased to recognize school leaders who are committed to excellence in education and serve as role models of learning in their communities,” said Dr. Dan Smith, SAI executive director. Mrs. Prusha was nominated by her peers and interviewed by a committee of Iowa middle level principals. All honorees will be recognized at SAI’s awards banquet Aug. 7 in Des Moines.

Before taking the middle level principal role in 2006, Mrs. Prusha was a school counselor at both Benton Community Middle School/High School and at two elementary buildings in the district.
She is currently pursuing a doctorate at Iowa State University in Educational Leadership. She has a bachelor’s degree from UNI in Psychology, a master’s from the University of Iowa in Counseling and Human Development and received her administration endorsement from Drake University.
