Resources Support Adequate State Funding For Schools

Additional information on the importance of adequate state funding:

  • The state budget can support adequate SSA funding
  • Districts have been underfunded in the past, during tougher economic times:
    • FY 2012 - 0% Allowable Growth (former term for SSA)
    • FY 2013 -2% SSA
    • FY 2014 -2% SSA
    • FY 2015 2014/15 - 4% SSA
  • Schools already suffered from lower per pupil funding in recent years when revenue estimates were below average. The only way we catch up is to set a higher rate when estimates are above average.
  • The revenues for Iowa’s general fund are estimated at $7.1946 billion for FY 2016, an increase of more than five percent.
  • Additionally:
    • Iowa is 9th in nation in reserve funds
    • Iowa is 9th in nation in growth of per capita personal income
    • Iowa is 12th in nation in gross domestic product
    • Iowa is 38th in nation in state/ local corporate income tax
Have a great Bobcat Weekend!
