October 1st is the "official enrollment date" for Iowa school districts. Each district must certify their enrollment with the Iowa Department of Education by October 15th. There are two enrollment figures of importance: 1) headcount defined as the number of students actually in seats at Benton Community and 2) the budget enrollment which includes the headcount, but factors in open enrollment in and out calculations, tuition in and out students, home school assistance students, and dual enrolled students not attending as full-time students at Benton.
Based on the data collected last Thursday the initial headcount at Benton Community for 2015-16 is 1422 students which is one more student to the headcount from one year ago. Additional information on the official enrollment will be shared in the days ahead and reported to the Board of Education at their regular meeting on October 21st.
