On Monday the Iowa School Board Association sponsored a legislative day at the Veterans Memorial Convention Center and the State Capitol. Board President Dan Voss and I attended this meeting. The purpose of the legislative day is to provide an opportunity for board members and school administrators to be advocates for Iowa school districts and for public education.
The day included updates on the battle between setting allowable growth and addressing the education reform package, an update on the status of the state budget, advocacy time with legislators at the State Capitol, and an address from Governor Branstad.
Please consider being an advocate for public education and the Benton Community School District. Contact a local legislator and request support for setting allowable growth for Iowa Schools in a timely fashion.
