The "Benton Wheel"

Twenty years ago a group of Benton Community employees, parents, and patrons worked on developing the mission statement and core values and beliefs for the Benton Community School District.  An outcome from this work was the "Benton Wheel".   The "wheel" is a well recognized symbol of our school district.

The rim of the wheel contains the four core values and beliefs that serve as the foundation of our mission of providing a "quality education for a lifetime of learning".  The spokes of the wheel highlight the essential skills that drive teaching and learning in the District.  These skills are also referred to as the "Bobcat Standards".

The Benton Community Board of Education will review the "wheel" during the delegations and communications portion of the regular board meeting on Wednesday, October 17th at the Atkins Center.  I thought it was important to highlight the wheel and its significance to the school district in the Bobcat Update as this week comes to a close.
