A Thanksgiving Tribute

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, so many people come to mind who I’d like to pay tribute to and thank for their overwhelming acts of service and compassion.

When we look around our towns and down our streets, one thing is very clear – our public servants are the heart and soul – and the driving force – of our communities. They teach our children, nurse our loved ones back to health, protect our neighborhoods, and keep our country safe.

This tribute is a way to communicate and show profound gratitude to all of those who keep our state and country strong:

To our educators – thank you for going into your school buildings each day to prepare our young people for the future. You’re unsung heroes and you far too often don’t get the credit you deserve. You dedicate yourselves to a cause that is so great and there simply aren’t enough ways to say how completely grateful we are for your contributions to our future generations.

To our first responders – thanks to all of you, from our firefighters to our police officers and emergency medical professionals, for making the safety of our families and homes your biggest priority. You deserve our utmost respect and honor for the work you do all year round.

To our social workers – thank you for caring for our most vulnerable children at risk of abuse and neglect. Workers, foster parents and adoptive parents who provide a safe home, deserve our admiration and support as well.

To our nurses – thank you for nurturing those who need you most each and every day, for facing uncertain and often heartrending circumstances, and for taking on such a critically important role in our health care system. Whether it’s in a hospital, veterans’ facility, urgent care clinic, or pediatrician’s office – you give of yourselves for the betterment of others and we are grateful for your devotion.

And a very special thank you to our military men and women – you have our deepest thanks for the sacrifices you and your families make to protect our freedoms. You’re a tremendous source of pride to each and every one of us, and you’ll always be a constant source of inspiration. Happy Thanksgiving!
