Benton Staff to Finish Year with Professional Development Focus

The Benton Community teaching staff and administration will be involved in professional development work on June 3-5.  On Tuesday, June 3rd the TLS (Teacher Leadership System) group will meet for an orientation and planning session as the District prepares for next school year.  On Wednesday, June 4th the PK-6 staff will be involved in Benchmark Literacy training as the elementary centers begin full implementation of a new reading curriculum next school year.  The 7-12 staff will spend the day on Thursday, June 5th involved in their third day of Write Tools training.  Write tools provides a research based approach and teaching strategies for incorporating writing into all curricular areas.

The staff will spend the remainder of the time completing grade reporting work and other responsibilities as a part of the end of the year check-out.  There will also be time for celebration and thanks as we say "good-bye" to staff members retiring or leaving the district at the end of this contract year.
